Whisker Wars : American Mens Beards vs The World
It was only a matter of time before them furry boys of Beard Team USA would get a wild hair up their ass and decide to take on the World. The latest reality TV series - Whisker Wars.
The 2011 World Beard and Mustache Championship happened this year in Norway. Beard Team USA produced a slick and intimidating video that captures both the sport of 'Bearding', the comraderie and downright (ahem) cut-throat competitiveness that must be going on behind the scenes. "You mess with my whiskers - You messin' with me!" kinda take no prisoners attitude is pervasive. Especially from them Texas Good Ol' Bear Boys who threaten to succeed from the union like they were still at the Alamo.
Primping and Pettiness. Bushy Beards and Brovado. It all cumulates as cheesy Reality TV slices and dices the reality of what a hairy man's alpha-male beard really means to him -- and what can be packaged and sold to Pop Culture viewers as a tune-in-and watch series. Frankly, I'd have preferred alot less backstabbing and whisker-dissing, and more whisker-rubs and kissing scenes between these men.
